NOTES: Currently Didymosphaeria lignomaris is the only marine species documented in the literature and has not been widely reported. Prasannarai & Sridhar (2001) and Ananda & Sridhar (2004) have reported it from the West coast, Goa, India on intertidal wood, intertidal leaves and woody litter. It is listed in Jones et al. (2015), but is a doubtful species and further collections are required along with sequence data to determine it relationship in the Pleosporales. Aptroot (1995) monographed the genus Didymosphaeria with 550 described names, but only accepted 7 species. Didymosphaeria lignommaris was considered miss-placed.
