Saprobic, sexual morph: Ascomata 350-425 µm diam., 510-630 µm high, superficial, globose, ostiolate, short papillate, black, mostly clustered. Papilla 230-280 µm diameter. Peridium 45-95 µm wide, comprising two strata, an inner stratum of hyaline thin-walled globose cells, and an outer layer of brown thick-walled angular cells. Pseudoparaphyses 2-3 µm wide, filiform, numerous, septate, anastomosing above the asci, embedded in a gelatinous matrix. Asci 135-180¬17 x 5-25 µm, 8-spored, cylindric-clavate, pedicellate, bitunicate, fissitunicate, with an ocular chamber. Ascospores 31-42 x 7.5 x 12.5 µm, 2-seriate, fusiform, initially 1-septate, becoming 3-septate when mature, strongly constricted at the central septum, basal parts slightly longer and narrower than apical part, hyaline, becoming pale brown when mature, and dark brown following release from the ascomata, with apical cellular appendages. Asexual morph: Undetermined.
